who has time to read?

Am I the last person in the known universe to find out about the Twilight series? I’ve been spotting excited bloggers talking up Breaking Dawn on their blogs and I hadn’t bothered to pay much mind (who has time to read?, I asked myself), but then the mister gave me a copy of Twilight (Book 1) for my birthday last weekend. As of today I’m about a third of the way through Eclipse (Book 3). When I went to pick it up yesterday, I also grabbed Breaking Dawn because the thought of finishing one and not having the next on hand for immediate gratification was too painful a notion to even consider. As for that “who has time to read” voice, all I can say is it’s keeping me up far too late (2.30 last night, 2 the night before, 3 the night before that) as I steal whatever reading time I can before bed.

If it turns out that I’m not the last person in the known universe to have discovered them, then I commend them to you enthusiastically! With exclamation points even! But, caveat lector: do yourself a favour and don’t start in on this series unless you have a few hours a day to feed the impulse. It’s absorbing, heady, get-under-your-skin stuff, folks.

I’ve been meaning to read Twilight for about a year now, and just a few days ago a friend — who recently read it and loved it — sent me a copy. Nothing like free entertainment landing in your mailbox! So I’m taking it to Rhode Island with me this weekend, because between the fact that Tim loved it enough to send me a copy, and that you’re already on the third one, I think it sounds like PERFECT beach reading. Yay!

I too was recommended them very highly just this past week, I had heard vague rumblings but am now determined that I shall read Twilight soon…thanks for the extra enthusiastic recommendation!

No you’re not the last. I’ve heard the words “Twilight series” but have no clue what they are about or who the author is or anything – well except that I can see the author’s name in the pic you posted now. I may have heard something vaguely about vampires which is cool, though still working my way through the Anita Blake series.

Too bad I just spent my last gift card yesterday on some other books. Maybe I’ll see if my public library has them.

I literally discovered them at the end of july – read the first 3 in a matter of 4 days and then just tried to keep it together while i waited for ‘breaking dawn’ to come out. obsession, anyone?

Hey Amanda! I just found out too. Saw a couple posts on FF a while ago and wondered, then forgot. I was chatting with our intern and she mentioned this series again. Basically what I remember from that convo is it is awesome and addictive. She just brought me the first book. Jim is in Canada (PEI for Fedora training) for the week and I thought that’d be good time to immerse…but then I decided that maybe I’d like to do other things while I was flying solo besides read. So I’m excited to see more confirmation that this series rocks and that it is waiting at my bedside for me. It doesn’t judge me if I’m tired, have a headache or want to do something else… :)

I had this exact crazy experience last week. Started with book one on Friday and didn’t stop reading til I was done with book four on Monday. Enjoy the end of the series!

i noticed those books at the library over the summer, and even though they were in the teen section, the series piqued my interest. love vampire books. i’ll have to pick up the first book and give it a go. thanks for the recommendation.

lol! I discovered them earlier this summer and devoured them (except #4 is yet to be read). I also read The Host and enjoyed it even more than the Twilights. Enjoy!

I keep hearing about these books as well! I think I’m going to start the series and see how it goes. I’ve definetly been looking for another book to read, and if it becomes a series I love, that’s even better.

It’s funny that you mention this because I just got the library’s copy of the book (it had a million holds on it) and am about to start it. I’m looking forward to getting to it!

I just picked up Twilight but haven’t started it yet. Maybe I’d better wait a few weeks until the semester slows some! :)

I bought Twilight today and I’m having trouble tearing myself away long enough to make dinner! The rate I’m going, I’ll have all 4 books done by the end of the week and will be anxiously awaiting the movie. LOL

i know all too well about staying up way too late reading these books. i think i finished the last one in a 48 hour period. then i couldn’t get enough so i went to the author’s website and read the rough draft of the newest book – twilight from edward’s perspective. good stuff.

    welcome back!
