diversions for a quiltmaker

What else can you possibly do when you’re sitting on the couch, quilting, eating cookies, and drinking tea for hours on end? Why you watch movies, of course! As many as you can! Here’s what we watched over the holidays, starred out of a possible five:
- Edmund **
- Slither ***
- Hard Candy **
- Mission: Impossible III ***1/2
- Tsotsi ***
- An Inconvenient Truth ****
- 5ive Girls *
- Tsunami: The Aftermath ***1/2
- Descent ***1/2
- The Black Dahlia **1/2
- Miami Vice (Director’s Cut DVD) ****
- Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde **
- Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of ‘Diff’rent Strokes’ ***
The mister was a fantastic enabler throughout the quilting process, running out for DVDs and refreshing the refreshments when necessary. A crucial contribution!
And, you? Seen any good movies lately? What’s on in the theatre these days? I’m so out of touch.
I watched Cowboy Bebop last night and enjoyed it immensely. It might have been better had I realized I could turn OFF the English subtitles and turn ON the English audio track, but I’m still happy.
I also recently watched and enjoyed Monsoon Wedding and Aeon Flux. I’d skip Goldfish Memory, though.

We saw Casino Royale (in French, unfortunately). That may be old news for you — films usually come out in France several months after everywhere else. Enjoyed it immensely. Far superior to the Pierce Brosnan trash.

Agree with Meredith – Casino Royale is great entertainment without the cheesiness. Blood Diamonds is good too, the story is a bit cliched but the acting is excellent. Not a feel good story as you can imagine.

Hello there, I’ve been lurking for a while but couldn’t resist adding that I, too, think that “Casino Royale” is very good, indeed! I saw it in German first, then later in English – of course, the original version was even better. “Little Miss Sunshine” is a TREAT, I saw it at a film festival here some time ago. Same film festival last year, oh wait, 2005: “In my father’s den” – very moving. Must have been around at your place for a while, though.
Greetings from Germany!
