I’ve decided to start work on the beginner’s poncho in The Knit Stitch. The pattern calls for super bulky yarn but I’ve made an executive decision (in consultation with my friends, the yarn store staff) to use the Fleece Artist Lady Godiva that I showcased and ohh-ahh’ed over a couple of weeks ago. It’s just too delicious for a throw. The pattern gauge is 9 stitches to 4 inches and the Lady Godiva knits up at 20 stitches to 4 inches, so I’m doubling up and hoping for the best. I can’t wait to see how this yarn looks in the knit! I should probably swatch.
The garter-stitch scarf is all done but pictures are still forthcoming. I have been knitting hardly at all, in fact. We have friends coming around for supper on Saturday and the great thing about having friends over (apart from the obvious) is that it forces one to clean one’s house. The bad thing about cleaning one’s house is that it leaves one with no time to knit.
And Jasper Fforde goes back to the library to-morrow, thoroughly unread. I am aggrieved.
Later that day: Here’s the garter scarf modelled by a one of our freshly-painted stairway posts. It was hard to pick which one would model it, they’re all so pretty now.
