If you live in the South-Western Ontario region, as I do, you are likely enjoying this Spring weather considerably, as I am. I keep reminding myself to get pictures of the errant crocuses that have sprouted in our hardscrabble yard. Errant only because the mister and I were sure we’d pulled everything living out last Fall in preparation for Winter. Turns out a few bulbs survived, white, yellow and purple crocuses are in full bloom and some green leafage that looks suspiciously like tulip foliage is shooting out of the soil in our unlikely patch of earth. I love how bulbs survive in the face of adversity.
A few weeks ago I whined on a bit about how the single-highway travail was proffering little to no variety in my daily commute. Today I trialed a new public transit option that gets me to campus a mere fifteen minutes longer than it takes me to drive there. And it’s transit! Less gas and fumes! More reading! And dozing! Hip hip!
And imagine my surprise when I saw my name in the index of Walt Crawford’s wonderful book, First Have Something to Say, during said commute this morning. Nothing major, just a slight nod to one of my library blogs, but he called me (or the blog I suppose, which is me, isn’t it?) “opinionated” and “intriguing” and I understood both words to be complimentary, so I traveled the remaining 30 minutes with a decidedly goofy smile on my face. I’ve been at this blogging thing for going on two years, and as much delight as I get from seeing one of my blogs listed on blogrolls, it’s not quite the same as seeing it (and your name) in print. I’m still kinda print-biased like that.
And one last thing (not an elegant segue in sight today), Kill Bill: Vol. 2. When I saw Vol. 1 last year I was pretty disappointed, mostly because of all the hype that the film just didn’t live up to, but also because of the dangerous sequel precedent that felt way too much like a cheap revenue ploy. So Vol. 2 opens to-morrow and everything I’m hearing is good and maybe it won’t live up to the hype either but I think I want to see it. Smite me for saying it.
