good being me

You know me as a librarian. That is because I am not cagey about talking about my librarian-ness and all the librarian-ish things I do, which are many. I rarely, however, talk about my actual job or the institution I work at and that’s mostly because I don’t really think it’s a good idea to talk about institutional things. But today, I’m going to talk about institutional things. You see, I’ve worked at said institution for going on two years and there are still things about this library that blow me away on a regular basis and I’m just wondering, are these normal things or am I just blessed to be working at an institution that:
- doesn’t charge fines for overdue materials (unless they are reserve/recalled materials)
- looks inviting when you walk in the main doors
- provides an endless supply of golf pencils at public terminals/service desks
- seriously cares about ergonomics
- has ambient lighting.
