all better now, just for you

A glance at the site logs confirmed that I get an average of 150 requests a month for my CSS files. I recoiled in shame when I learnt of this statistic a few months ago because I am not a careful CSSer. My CSS files consist of attributes flung haphazardly around, in no particular order, an unwieldly mess of semi-colons and periods and curly brackets. I haven’t paid these files much heed because as long as my pages show up the way I want them to, all the right fonts, solid lines in the right colours in all the right places, I’ve remained fairly lax on the files themselves, because who’s looking at them?
Well, it turns out that 150 of you are. Or maybe 10 of you are looking at 1 file each, 15 times a month. Or some sort of equation at adds up to 150 hits. All I needed to know was that someone, other than me, has been looking at these slapdash files, sort of like someone peeking into your messy bedroom even though you’ve closed the door. So yesterday, I spent an hour and a half cleaning up said files, rearranging every one of them, even alphabetizing the attributes. Go procrastinating me.
Feel free to go ahead and borrow from them, I know some of you already have. If you decide to replicate a large portion of any design or layout, tell me, would you? You don’t need to ask permission, nor do you have to tip your hat to me in any way, just letting me know is enough. I don’t fancy mysef any sort of CSS maven, it’s just nice to see what people do with something I’ve started.
Also, I’ve been cleaning up my bookmarks. If you, like me, are a link geek, have a gander at these. Note that if you’re not a librarian most of these will likely bore you.
