have list, will travel

I am an inveterate list-maker, but if you’ve been here before, you already know this. I have stock lists, ones that I use and reuse, like packing lists for different occasions, for example. I have a packing list for camping, one for a weekend getaway, and another for a two-week trip. That alone is a really good indication of the kind of traveling I’ve done. Lists keep me organized and sane and if you’re sniggering about this being some sort of latent librarian trait, you’d be right, and there’s nothing latent about it. Plans are in the hopper to get my stock lists online, but in the interim, drop me a line if you need one in particular. If you can afford some lead time, I can probably pull together a personalised list for you too.
I’m packing for NY right now, which is why we’re even talking about this. Before packing though, I made the following to-do list. If we were proactive, we’d have gotten to most of this stuff about a week ago. As it stands we have about 6 spare hours to get all this done:
Things to do before NY:
· recharge camera batteries
· recharge cordless drill
· buy wire mesh & screws
· squirrel-proof eaves trough area
· remove old chimney bricks from roof
· buy driveway salt
· sand interlocking bricks in carport
· buy cat food, refill food & water
· clean litterbox
· do laundry
· clean house
· pack
Also, thanks for the NY suggestions. I’ve had a recent hankering for arty, political, culture-type stuff so I’m going to try and make it to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum (and this place while I’m in the neighbourhood), the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, and the International Center of Photography. Also, the library has a couple of exhibitions on that I’d like to get to. Updates erratic for the next few days.
