I’m off work on vacation for a few days and my grandiose plan to spend all of my time doing research has been intermittently disturbed by our fritzed cable connection, which may or may not have something to do with the blackout, there’s no way of knowing for sure. I manage to fill my time though, never fear. Yesterday I read a book, reorganized the pantry, and played with Peche, a neighbourhood kitten we’ve adopted and so named because she looks like a fuzzy peach. So far today, I’ve run errands and delighted in picking up a few things at bottom dollar. I bought some fruit from one of our many fruit/veggie markets, stopped in at a local coffee shop and spent two hours at she said boom!, where I picked up used copies of Confessions of a Raving, Unconfined Nut, No Logo, 25th Hour and a Yo La Tengo album. Feeding mind, body and soul for a meagre $27. I also started a photo essay on our backyard wildlife because the story of one woodpecker, hundreds of cicadas, two intrepid squirrels, and a family of racoons must be told. If I can afford the bandwidth I’ll include sound clips, because the cicadas sure can belt out a chorus.
