no precip bellyaching here

We’ve had consistent clouds and rain for the past four days (which washed out my picnic in the park on Saturday, we went for ice cream instead) and it’s been weeks since we’ve had a decent, sunny, humid, Toronto weekend.
The real joke is that rain doesn’t needle my sensibilities anymore. While it does mean less chance to enjoy the deck, the enclosed porch at the front of the house provides a decent windowed enclosure from which we can watch the downpour in relative dryness (there is a small leak coming from one of the side windows that needs caulking). The other thing about rain is that the hedges we trimmed down to puny proportions have bloomed again and we discovered yesterday that we probably have some healthy leadwort. And going on my nascent gardening knowledge, our small fry garden is quite possibly the playground of a pretty, tall-stemmed, purple-flowered, noxious weed.
